Seraphina & A (Casual Shoot)
““The whole time it was just me laughing and A being so sweet” ”
They say a picture speaks a thousand words, and it really is true when we remember our shoot with Seraphina and A.
I have been thinking for quite a while now to pend down our memories with our couples during shoots, especially since I'm usually the one observing and trying to set the mood. I do not want to forget all the sweet moments that I have seen and experienced along with them. It has been a crazy first 6 months, and 40 shoots later here I am writing our first thought post.
My approach is that I will be sharing more about who we are and what we are like as photographers. And also to feature all the couples that we would like to showcase on our website (but it is really quite insane to have that many tabs to look through yea?)
Seraphina was actually one of the 10 people we specially mentioned during our giveaway since there were truly so many good entries that it was hard to only pick one. And, I actually remember that she had emailed me even before this when we were first starting out to enquire about a shoot. I guess she was hesitant because her partner was not too keen on having a shoot (as most guys would).
So imagine how happy I was that she actually did decide to have a shoot with us. To me, all the shoots that we have had thus far, is sort of fate. There are so many people in Singapore, and the world for that matter, and still we get the chance to meet them on a shoot is already amazing in itself. Each couple is a new experience for us, to see what kind of new imagery we are able to get even in familiar locations.
“Every moment is a special moment with my love.”
Seraphina wanted to shoot at a cafe actually, but since she was doing a 2 hour shoot I shared that she can consider an outdoor location as well. So since we decided on Wheeler's Estate, the next closest outdoor location would be Seletar North Link. This place will always hold a special place in my heart because that's where we had our prewedding shoot (and it rained like no tomorrow).
That's a lot of green right? I realise that a lot of our couples do request to shoot in a quiet nature location, and my pro tip is always bring a fan and mozzie repellent. I usually carry a small bottle with me as well, just in case. Being in a quiet location like this really gives the couple room to really open up to us and get comfortable with being in front of the camera (most of them, for the first time even). This kind of space works best for people who do not want to feel stressed by curious stares of passer-bys or having to wait for throngs of people to be out of frame.
“I found my one, the one I would risk anything and everything for. ”
Since it was getting pretty warm and we managed to get the money shots at Selatar North Link already, we decided to make our way to the cafe already then. I have always wanted to visit this place, so I am thankful that a shoot has brought me there finally.
What a stark difference from the photos on top, in terms of mood and tones. I suppose by now they were comfortable enough with us already, as we all settled down to have brunch together. It's interesting to speak so freely with your clients (I don't think we should even call them that anyway). I think it helps that we are all around the same age as well, Grey is still the oldest though as usual.
I really hope to be able to keep doing what we do for a long time more. We started doing events and weddings when we were still studying in University, and now here we are starting again from where we left off.
I truly enjoy hearing how much they loved the photos (friends and family included), discussing which are their favourites and (hopefully) even becoming friends with some of them. It's not just an occupation for us, it's something we're both passionate about and I hope that everyone is able to see it translating to our the imagery we deliver.
Now I took way too long to write this post, I already have so many other thoughts and shoots that I need to share on so I will end it here today. Coming up will be our shoot at Coney Island with our May giveaway winner so stay tuned to the next one!
Fin.
